Thanks Swedish Folk Art participants!

Writer: Tina Rawson Tina Rawson

This was a wonderful way to celebrate Midsummer Day! I introduced "Kurbits" to the group, including a couple of pieces from a local Swedish couples home, and the famous Bridge painting. This artistic group of 17 participants at the Museum of Old Newbury dove right in with choosing background colors for their canvases, and then we were inspired by the beautiful gardens at the museum. The roses there are at their peak! Back inside on this hot day the group developed their ideas using sketches, books and stencils that I brought in. It was fun to see all the bright colorful art that was created yesterday! Everyone came up with their own take on Swedish Folk Art and we had fun talking about Midsummer in Sweden too. Thanks Kristen for the yummy bread and drinks! It was nice to have refreshments and have a drink together. Skål!
