Hello! Welcome to my colorful world. I hope that you will stay and check out:

Hej! I'm a Swedish American artist that loves to paint nature, people, and Swedish Folk Art as spirit moves me.

I founded an art school, Start 2 Art, in 2015 and taught art since then at local schools, youth organizations, home parties, and at my studio at 14 Cedar St in Amesbury, MA. I love connecting with people of all ages through their art and helping them express their creativity. I believe that we all can make art and have fun doing it!

Now I teaching Kurbits (Swedish Folk Art) to adults too and make murals, check one out at Golden Hour Counseling LLC at 5 Market Sq in Amesbury! I also just finished a mural.

Commissioned artworks are available and I also throw fun ART parties and craft sessions.

So as a mom, cat lover, former Montessori teacher, Swedish-American, tree hugger, artist and all around do-gooder I try to make art that depicts a better world.

Artist Statement:

As a contemporary impressionist painter working primarily in acrylic paints and mediums, I aspire to convey not only the scene but also the moment and mood. The moment is fleeting but the painting allows us to live there a bit longer, to linger, reflect, contemplate and enjoy.

Reflecting on a serendipitous moment in time can be deceivingly difficult. I sketch my subject matter first, getting to know it so well that when I put my brush to work, I find that the art and colors flow.

I often work outside in nature and finish in the studio, capturing the essence of a moment and offering viewers an uplifting, positive message.

Bio and Artist Statement

Bio:

Tina Rawson took up the bold decision in 2021, amidst the protracted COVID-19 pandemic, to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a painter. She paints acrylic landscapes, murals and live events with a hint of whimsy, bold color and lots of texture. Nature is a big inspiration as are memories and friendships.

Studying art in college at the University of Pittsburgh helped prepare her for work as an artist, and travels throughout Europe and across the United States inform her work. Her memories of people and places also provide artistic inspiration.

Among those artists with whom Tina has studied are Amira Rahim who taught her contemporary acrylic painting, and Lully Schwartz who helped better her oil painting. In addition, she has taken numerous classes at Mass College of Art and studied with other painters, including en plein air.

Her many exhibits include a recent showing of her work at The Grog, Newburyport Art Association Solo Show in December 2022, Coastal Living Gallery in Little Compton RI and a museum show at The Wenham Museum in Wenham, MA entitled "My Essentials."

Tina works as an artist and educator in beautiful Massachusetts and visits her native Sweden annually. She will be the visiting resident artist in LCCC in July 2023, was resident artist at Damariscotta Maine and has been on numerous podcasts as guest speaker.
